From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

PIC stated on approach to land he saw a flock of birds in his peripheral vision and felt birds strike the aircraft. The PIC was able to land the aircraft without further incident. He then taxied to a runup area where he shut down the aircraft and exited to inspect for damage. There was smoke visible from the engine cowling which quickly erupted into flames. The PIC unsuccessfully attempted to put out the fire, the composite structure was consumed and some of the aluminum components were melted.
