From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

This office was notified by the FAA regional operations center that on August 11, 2024 at approximately 2100 local time kgok (Guthrie - Edmond regional airport) a 1977 Bellanca super viking struck a deer while taking off. The FAA became aware on August 12, 2024. The aircraft was traveling at approximately 65 knots when the deer ran into the right side of the aircraft. This caused damage to the belly and the wing root of the right wing. After leaving the ground, the pilot noticed that the right landing gear safe light was extinguished, so he elected to have personnel on the ground check to see if his gear was down. Once confirming the status of the right main gear, the pilot returned to the airport and made and uneventful landing.
