From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Departed sheenjek river gravel strip at 18:30 local on 15 August 2024. Monitored winds prior to departure, which showed crosswind conditions of 3-6 mph with gusts up to 10 mph. During the takeoff roll, as the tail began to rise, the aircraft was hit by a strong gust of wind from the left side. This caused the left wing to lift aggressively, pushing the aircraft to the right off the runway surface. The airplane was approximately 5 feet off the ground and continued to move to the right. The right gear impacted the ground, followed by the right wingtip, and the aircraft spun another 40-50 degrees to the left before coming to a stop.
