From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On August 16, 2024 at ~1215 MST, the pic/cfi began flight instruction with the intent of simulating engine failure on roll out. The student was briefed on the upcoming evaluation to include the execution of the engine failure and the appropriate actions they should take. The aircraft was cleared for takeoff and during roll, the CFI cut the mixture to the right engine. The student was slow to react and the CFI immediately cut the other mixture, stated “my controls”, and engaged the left rudder. These actions were performed too late and the aircraft exited the runway to the right where it struck a runway edge light with the right propellor before coming to rest off runway.
