From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

At approximately 10:00 MDT, after performing approximately 6-7 touch and go landings, the pilot entered a normal approach to perform a full-stop three-point landing on runway 9 at 20V (Mc Elroy Airfield). After the touchdown, the plane drifted to the left. Full power was applied to go-around, but the plane pulled further left and departed the runway down into and up out of a drainage ditch which caused the airplane to go airborne momentarily before pitching down and impacting the ground nose first. There was substantial damage to the engine, cowling, wings, and cabin structure. The pilot remained conscious and was able to exit and walk away from the aircraft. Pilot suffered a bump to the head which resulted in a black eye. First responders transported the pilot to the hospital for a full examination no other injuries found.

As the FAA filed it
