From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

A gyroplane with one passenger attempted to takeoff on an approved grass runway. During takeoff the pilot rotated prior to reaching his rotation takeoff speed. The aircraft failed to climb as anticipated and began drifting to the right. The pilot attempted to correct the left drift and climb out. The aircraft failed to gain altitude. The pilot attemped to perform a late abort landing and lost control of the aircraft resulting in the aircraft leaving the runway and collided with a parked gyroplane, concrete pad and wood pile.
