From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The crash site was approximatly 1600 feet short of runway 15 at the kozs airport. The aircraft was found lodged in a tree in a nose down position at an approximately 330 degree heading. Witness marks in the trees around the aircraft were consistant with a heading of approximatly 015 degrees before the final impact. The nose of the aircraft impacted the ground and the tail, still intact with the fuselage, was caught in the top of the tree. The fuel tanks were partially breached with only traces of fuel present. There was no evidence of fuel leakage . The carburetor and fuel strainer were not accessible. The engine, engine components and airframe all had significant corrosion on their surfaces and evidence of rodent nests throughout. The mixture control was found jammed in the full rich position.
