What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Pilot reported that shortly after takeoff, he retracted the landing gear. The retraction process stopped about halfway through its cycle. The pilot attempted to manually retract the gear but the gear did not move. He returned to the airport and landed with the gear partially extended. The nose gear did lock and prevented damage to the front propeller. Upon completing a gear swing test, it was discovered that the right main gear actuating cylinder ruptured, causing a loss of hydraulic fluid, and failure of the gear actuating system. Upon landing, the main gear were partially retracted, causing damage to the rear engine, propeller, and main gear doors.
