From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 04/03/2025 at approximately 14:50 EDT the CRJ900 aircraft received a “hyd 2 lo press” caution message. The aircraft was en-route from south bend, in (sbn) to atlanta, ga (atl), cruising at 36,000 feet. Hydraulic system #2 fluid level indicated 0%. Quick reference handbook “qrh” procedures directed the crew to land at the nearest suitable airport. Diversion and decent to Blountville, TN (tri) was initiated. The crew declared an emergency. Flight attendants and passengers were notified of the decision. Approach began once enough fuel had been burned to prevent an over-weight landing. Outboard brakes were inoperative due to loss of system #2 hydraulic power, but the aircraft landed without incident and exited at the end of the runway. After taxiing to the gate ground power was used to shut down engines. With engines shut down, system #2 indicated 10%.

Maintenance found a large leak coming from the right-hand engine driven hydraulic pump. The pump was replaced. The #2 engine driven pump case drain filter showed some contamination, so it was replaced. The associated pressure filter showed no contamination, so it was not replaced. Operational tests and leak checks were satisfactory after maintenance. The aircraft was released for service.

All procedures were followed.

As the FAA filed it
