From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

CFI was conducting a flight review for the privacy data omitted of the aircraft. Following successful completion of all flight maneuvers, CFI had the privacy data omitted fly back to ktus. While approaching ktus, the privacy data omitted was directed by ATC into two 360-degree turns on the downwind prior to turning to base. privacy data omitted Continued stabilized approach but failed to lower the landing gear, until aircraft suddenly sank and the gear warning came on. privacy data omitted Described that at that point, climbing again was not an option, so privacy data omitted decided to reduce power and land gear up to avoid veering off runway, etc. Possibly causing more damage and harm.

As the FAA filed it

CFI WAS CONDUCTING A FLIGHT REVIEW FOR THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ OF THE AIRCRAFT. FOLLOWING SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF ALL FLIGHT MANEUVERS, CFI HAD THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ FLY BACK TO KTUS. WHILE APPROACHING KTUS, THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS DIRECTED BY ATC INTO TWO 360-DEGREE TURNS ON THE DOWNWIND PRIOR TO TURNING TO BASE. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ CONTINUED STABILIZED APPROACH BUT FAILED TO LOWER THE LANDING GEAR, UNTIL AIRCRAFT SUDDENLY SANK AND THE GEAR WARNING CAME ON. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ DESCRIBED THAT AT THAT POINT, CLIMBING AGAIN WAS NOT AN OPTION, SO ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ DECIDED TO REDUCE POWER AND LAND GEAR UP TO AVOID VEERING OFF RUNWAY, ETC. POSSIBLY CAUSING MORE DAMAGE AND HARM.
