From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 5-24-2025 the pilot departed on a flight from fvx to vji. Used foreflight to calculate fuel and check weather. Did not visually check fuel level. Relied on fuel totalizer only for aircraft fuel level.

Shortly after departure climbed to 10,000 feet to get out of turbulence. Encountered a 41 knot headwind and stayed at 10,000 feet for some time. Descended to 6500 feet when he encountered calmer air. Was on approach to runway 24 at vji when the engine surged after seeing a low fuel pressure warning, then the engine quit over 3 miles from the runway.

Found a field and overturned during the landing. Had to be extricated from the aircraft.

No fuel found in any part of the fuel system.
