What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On 06/15/2025 at approximately 1550 EDT the CRJ900 aircraft en-route from saginaw county, MI (mbs) to Detroit, MI (dtw) received a “gear disagree” warning message during climb out when the gear handle was raised up. This was followed by a hydraulic system 3 caution message. The crew continued to climb to 7,000 feet as planned. Following quick reference handbook (qrh) procedures they decided to continue to dtw. They declared an emergency and got clearance to land on the longest runway (4R). The control tower was notified that they would have no steering. Flight attendants and passengers were notified that the aircraft would be stopping on the runway and be towed to the gate. Landing was uneventful and the aircraft was towed to the gate.
The discrepancy was documented on AML1630031 and transferred to CP30321390. Skywest maintenance met them at the gate and the aircraft was taken to the dtw hangar. Maintenance found the nose landing gear retract actuator hose leaking. This was replaced, leak checked and actuator operationally checked (ref. AML1630165, 1630172, CP30321395). The #3A hydraulic ac motor pump was also leaking. This was replaced. System 3 was serviced and bled, operationally and leak checked (ref. CP30321394 and CP30321557).
Alternate landing gear extension was used prior to landing (ref. AML1630059, CP30321392). Landing gear extension and retraction checks were good. Alternate extension and retraction checks were also good (ref. AML1630160 and CP30321394).
Both nose landing gear tires were covered in skydrol hydraulic fluid (ref. AML1630145 and CP30321393). Both wheel and tire assemblies were replaced (ref. CP30322357 and 30322358).
The aircraft had no history related to this issue. All procedures were followed.
As the FAA filed it
ON 06/15/2025 AT APPROXIMATELY 1550 EDT THE CRJ900 AIRCRAFT EN-ROUTE FROM SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (MBS) TO DETROIT, MI (DTW) RECEIVED A “GEAR DISAGREE” WARNING MESSAGE DURING CLIMB OUT WHEN THE GEAR HANDLE WAS RAISED UP.
