From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On Monday July 21st, 2025, at approximately 1900 EST, a Piper PA-28-181 was level in cruise flight close to kdmw. The pilot heard a loud noise and felt a jolt in the aircraft. The pilot noticed a drop in RPM. The pilot then declared an emergency and announced a straight-in approach to runway 16 at kdmw. After shutting down the engine and performing a postflight inspection, the pilot discovered that the spinner had detached during flight. The pilot then notified the 141 school manager of the events.
