The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On July 21, 2025, about 1048 atlantic standard time, a Piper PA-28-181 airplane crashed shortly after departing runway 09 at Fernando Luis Ribas dominnicci airport (tjig), San Juan, puerto rico. The airplane was registered to inter amercan university of puerto rico school of aeronautics, and the flight was conducted under the provisions of title 14 code of federal regulations part 91.
The student pilot started the takeoff roll for a soft-field takeoff and climb. Once the aircraft became airborne at an early speed, the aircraft yawed left. As per the surveillance video obtained, the aircraft was observed climbing with excessive nose up attitude and turning to the left. The aircraft continued its left turn until it stalled, later impacting a parked trailer with the aircraft left wing which detached from the fuselage upon impact with the ground, and continued its trajectory until it came to rest on the ground at a near truck parking area approximately 750 feet north of runway 09. The aircraft was destroyed subsequently, and the student pilot reported no injuries and walked out of the accident aircraft by herself unaided.
