From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

FAA inspectors arrived on scene and found the aircraft in a cornfield approximately 50 yards from the south edge of that field. Reportedly, the aircraft was spraying corn fungicide onto the field the aircraft crashed into. Due to the pilot not having any recolation of the event, it is assumed, that while manuvering for another pass of the field, the landing gear caught the upper two wires (ground wires) of high tension powerlines which were located approximately 350 yards west of where the aircraft came to rest. It appeared the aircraft stretched the ground wires down to the ground where the right landing gear was torn from the aircraft. The aircraft slid approximately 50 yards beyond the point of impact before coming to rest on a heading of approximately 090 degrees.

As the FAA filed it
