From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The aircraft was on approach for landing on the south end of green lake about 7 miles north-northwest of Ellsworth, Maine. The pilot reported that the approach and landing were normal, however as they slowed to “about 5 knots” the aircraft suddenly pitched forward and completely flipped over. When the aircraft came to rest, only the floats remained above the water surface. The pilot and single passenger were able to exit the aircraft and hailed a boat to bring them ashore. No injuries were reported. Examination of the aircraft noted extensive damage due to recovery efforts.
