From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft departed from North Perry Airport (Florida) at 1201 to the practice area. Student conducted a 360 degree clearing turn at 1,800 ft then performed a left steep turn without issue. During the subsequent right steep turn, the aircraft experienced severe vibration. PIC took control as engine failure symptoms appeared and he felt an impact on the firewall. Oil ejected from the engine and covered the right side of the windscreen. At 1218 PIC called mayday and identified a dirt road within gliding distance. Once the aircraft touched down it veered left and impacted nose-down off the dirt road.
