From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 08/13/2025 a Beechcraft BE35 aircraft departed on a personal part 91 flight from pueblo Colorado headed for uvalde Texas. The flight was night VFR and no flight plan was filed. The aircraft took off around 22:15 local time and ended up cruising on a south south-east heading at approximately 8000 feet. The heading path lead directly to sierra grande mountain whose peak is 8700 feet of elevation. Additionally, there are several lighted radio towers at the peak. Prior to reaching the peak the airplane turned to the west. About 1.5 miles west north-west of the peak sierra grande mountain, the aircraft collided with terrain at about 7800 feet altitude. The impact and post-crash fire destroyed the aircraft. Both the pilot and passenger were fatally injured in the accident. Jrk

On 8/16/2025 NTSB, FAA, and manufacturers' representatives traveled to accident site. The aircraft was flying on a westerly heading when it impacted rising terrain. The right wing was found wrapped around a tree about 20 feet above the ground. The aircraft rolled 180 degrees and collided with rocky wooded rising terrain leaving a wreckage debris path of about 200 feet. The propeller exhibited rotational signatures that were consisent with an engine under power when it collided with the terrain. A post-crash fire destroyed most of the aircraft.
