From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On August 28th, 2025 (2030L), jetblue flight 31 departed Boston Logan international airport (bos) to amsterdam international airport (ams). As the aircraft took off and during rotation a medium-sized bird struck the captain's windshield. Once the aircraft was in level flight, all three pilots examined the windshield and determined that the integrity of the windshield was in question. After conferring with maintenance, it was determined continued flight across the atlantic was not advisable. The aircraft diverted and landed back at Boston international airport.
