From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Following participation in a performance event at the pacific airshow in huntington beach, the pilot departed the area and proceeded to John Wayne airport for landing. While on the right downwind leg for runway 20R, the pilot observed that the right main landing gear indication light was not illuminated. The pilot attempted multiple landing gear cycles and performed a go-around after tower personnel confirmed that the right main landing gear was not extended. The pilot remained in the traffic pattern and attempted additional gear extension procedures at varying airspeeds and control inputs. The right main landing gear remained retracted. The pilot elected to land on runway 20L. Upon touchdown, the right wing contacted the runway surface, and the aircraft veered approximately fifty feet off the right side of the runway, coming to rest in the adjacent grass area. The pilot was uninjured. The aircraft sustained damage to the right wing.
