From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

While landing on the dry lakebed at the high sierra fly-in event at dead cow lakebed, Nevada, the mishap pilot was landing with a direct right to left crosswind. The mishap pilot had a hard landing, starting with the LH gear which bounced him on to the RH gear and when it bounced off the right gear the ailerons became neutral and the right wing lifted due to the crosswind and the left wingtip made contact with the ground causing minor damage on the lower LH wingtip and the LH aileron.
