Aicraft left lake havasu, AZ headed to florence, or with a fuel stop in Silver Springs, NV. AWOS was out and noted in the NOTAMS. Pilot contacted fallon for an altimeter setting. Pilot made his approach to Silver Springs on runway 6. Winds at the time were 238 with gusts up to 45 mph. Pilot was landing with a very strong tailwind. According to a witness, the aircraft touched down on the runway and then bounced into the air. Pilot initiated a go-around procedure but was unable to gain any altitude due to the strong tailwind. Witness stated that he was no higher than about 100 feet off the ground. Pilot saw a housing area in front of him and decided to turn left to the north. When he made that manuver and came crosswind, he was unable to maintian altitude and contacted the ground in a field just to the east of the airfield. The left wing departed the aircraft as it made contact with the ground and the aircraft cartwheeled. Part of a barbed wire fence wrapped around the propeller causing an abrupt stop upside down. The pilot and passanger were both seriously injured and had to be extricated from the cockpit by rescue crews and were transported via helicopter to a hospital in reno, NV. Both pilot and passenger survived and are recovering. The pilot had his medical certificate denied by cami due to substantial medical issues not revealed to AME. An eir was filed but not issued. Legal returned it to cami. Pilot made no mention of the denied medical certificate in his initial statement to the FAA. An interview is pending with the pilot to ask these questions. An loi, pbr and privacy act statement are being sent to the mishap pilot and an eir has been opened for operating an aircraft with a denied medical.
