From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On February 6, 2026, about 0945 mountain standard time, a sonex Onex airplane, privacy data omitted, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Caldwell, Idaho. The pilot was fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a part 91 personal flight. The pilot departed from runway 12 at Caldwell executive airport (eul) Caldwell, Idaho, and shortly after impacted a ploughed agricultural field about 850 ft east-southeast of departure end of runway 12. The airplane came to rest upright on a heading of about 057° magnetic.

The wreckage was contained within the outline of the main wreckage area. Ground disturbance was limited and consistent with a low forward velocity, shallow pitch attitude, and near wings-level attitude at impact. One blade of the wooden sensenich propeller was destroyed while the other blade was fractured about midway along the chord but was still attached. The cockpit, instrument panel and fuel tank area of the aircraft was consumed by a post impact fire.

ONE BLADE OF THE WOODEN SENSENICH PROPELLER WAS DESTROYED WHILE THE OTHER BLADE WAS FRACTURED ABOUT MIDWAY ALONG THE CHORD BUT WAS STILL ATTACHED.
