From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On February 19, 2026, costuzioni aeronautiche techna privacy data omitted departed from miami executive airport (tmb) at 0856 and performed an emergency landing at tmb. privacy data omitted Departed miami executive airport (tmb) at approximately 0856 then completed three simulated engine-out scenarios and a VMC demonstration maneuver successfully. After those successful maneuvers the air crew prepared to conduct a single-engine ILS runway 9R approach into tmb. The air crew then descended to 2,000 feet and began configuring for the approach. Approximately 6 nautical miles southwest of X51 the aircraft developed a strong abrupt tendency to bank hard left. Instructor immediately took control of the aircraft. Pilot declared an emergency with tmb. Pilot assessed that landing at X51 was not possible due to limited controlability. Pilot then looked at the left wing and observed a piece of metal hanging beneath the wing. Conducted an approach and landing at tmb using the rudder and differential thrust. Upon investigation found the left aileron hanging. The outboard hinge was seperated. The inboard hinge was found broken. The aileron was found to still be attached to the aircraft by control rod. Damage was also visible on the wing around the area where the aileron was conected to the control arm.
