From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

A flight instructor was conducting a PIC proficiency check on a pilot in a PA-28R-200 at ksgj. The first landing (touch and go) was uneventful. During the second traffic pattern (full stop), an aircraft was taxiing to hold short of the runway which distracted the pilot and instructor as they discussed which taxiway they would need to depart the runway on. The accident aircraft landed on runway 13 with the gear retracted as the pilots failed to actuate the gear handle prior to landing. The accident resulted in no injuries but substantial damage to the aircraft.
