From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Flight left kcxo with PIC and second pilot who purpose was to conduct annual insurance check and flew VFR to klfk for airwork. PIC stated first approach was RNAV (GPS) rwy 07 which terminated in a missed approach and go around. PIC stated they came around for a second approach to landing on rwy 07 which was completed. PIC states they took off from rwy 07 and climbed to altitude to simulate an engine out emergency. On approach to runway 07 the PIC stated that the wind gusted and the airplane dropped and a hard landing was experienced. The second pilot called for a go around successful and they assessed possible damage to landing gear. Deciding there may be some damage because there was no brake pressure felt in right brake pedal. They elected to land again at klfk because there was a repair faciclity on site. During landing they lost control and skidded off right side of rwy 07.

Hard landing reported occurred 26 feet short of runway with right wing slightly lower than left. Both landing gear impacted concrete slab holding rwy position lights. Right gear was sheared off leaving upper stub. Left gear wheel spindle broke jamming wheel into gear strut contributing to skidding along with stub of right landing gear with the skid off runway. The radar pod was torn off wing in the off runway skid. Damage to right wing, flap and aileron. Damage to left wing root and loosened screws on inspection port. Just forward and inboard to left landing gear.

No contact with any object with propeller. No apparent engine damage.
