From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot states shimmy check was positive and seat was locked before takeoff roll. Seat then became disenged and slid back during rotation causing a loss of control due to no longer being able to reach the controls. During the onsite evaluation by the inspector, after the accident, it was noted that while repositioning the seat to take pictures of the seat tracks, the seat would lock while rolling into preset locking postions but would continue to move when occupant weight was shifted or when seat was shimmied. The seat in question was also evaluated by a Cirrus representative who did not see any direct physical evidence of seat failure and they were able to confirm the seat locks in place. Non-mandatory Cirrus SB2X-25-31R1 was issued 12 August 2024 due to awareness of a condition where crew seats may slide if all seat pins are not fully engaged. SB2X-25-31R1 was not performed on privacy data omitted.

As the FAA filed it

SB2X-25-31R1 WAS NOT PERFORMED ON ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.
