From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On June 15, 2026, at approximately 0935 chamorro standard time, a Piper PA-32 cherokee six, operated by privacy data omitted as a scheduled passenger flight, experienced a ground fire during taxi at Tinian international airport (tni), Tinian, northern mariana islands. The incident occurred during the departure phase from tni runway 08. All occupants evacuated the aircraft safely, and no injuries were reported. The aircraft sustained thermal damage to the left main landing gear, left wing root, and adjacent fuselage structure. Pilot (PIC) states the flight was departing from runway 08, which has an available length of 8,600 feet. During the initial takeoff roll, the aircraft failed to accelerate beyond approximately 65 knots. The PIC elected to reject the takeoff after approximately 3,600 feet of ground roll, leaving roughly 5,000 feet of runway remaining. The PIC taxied back to runway 08 and initiated a second takeoff attempt. Aircraft again failed to accelerate beyond approximately 65 knots, prompting the PIC to reject the takeoff a second time. While taxiing on taxiway charlie the PIC reported a complete loss of left brake pressure and failure of the left main landing gear tire with the appearance of visible smoke and fire on the left main landing gear assembly. The PIC stopped the aircraft just off taxiway charlie on the apron and ordered an immediate emergency evacuation. Commonwealth ports authority emergency responders arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire. Post incident inspection found failure of brake caliper hydraulic seal (pn: MS28775-222 o-ring) on parker hannifin brake assy (pn: 30-83A). See also SDR 1SMA20260615001.
