From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot stated that he was on a personal flight from kslc to kogd in VMC conditions with one passenger onboard. The passenger was a CFI but was not performing duties as a pilot for this flight. The pilot stated that approximately 3-5 miles from kogd he turned to land on runway 03 at and lowered the landing gear. He verified 3 green lights indicating the gear was locked in the landing position. At an altitude of approximately 100 feet AGL, he again verified 3 green lights. He stated that they planned to roll out to the end of the runway and that the landing was longer than typical. He stated he landing was normal and with the longer rollout felt gentler than usual. Once the main landing gear settled onto the runway, he said he was surprised when the nose of the aircraft continued to lower until the nose landing gear completely collapsed and the aircraft skidded to a stop on runway 03. The passenger of the aircraft confirmed that the 3 green lights were illuminated and stated there were no abnormalities noted for the flight. Upon inspection of the aircraft the nose landing gear actuator rod end was found to be sheered. During an operational check and landing gear swing, nose landing gear green annunciator light indicated that the nose landing gear was down and locked, even when the gear was manually swung toward it’s full up position. The actuator is original to this aircraft and did not show any signs of abnormal wear or corrosion at the break location. A service difficulty report has been filed. This internal investigation is closed with no further action required at this time.

As the FAA filed it
