From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The aircraft was making the approach to land at the Dan Creek Mine strip landing to the east toward rising terrain. Eye witnesses stated they heard the airplane on approach making a popping noise. They said they heard the airplane make noise consistent with attempting a go around, then sounded quiet then heard it impact the ground. Aircraft was found an estimated 700 feet to the north of the runway. Aircraft was observed burning by local residents. Local resident grabbed a pump and hose for the purpose of putting the fire out, then contacted the Alaska state troopers who came to the accident and documented with photographs. The following day the left wing was removed for the purpose of removing the occupants.
