What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Departed 20H9 at 13:35 with the intention of landing back at 20H9.
Gates opened at 15:35. Made first turn point and started toward second turn point. The day got soft as the qs started to dissipate. Found several thermals at one knot or less. At around 2,000 ft I started looking at the fields to land. Close to a field that looked good to land in I found some zero lift or a little less. I waited for the thermal to cycle which did not happen. I stayed close to the field and at 800 feet I started my pattern to land after putting down the gear. I progressed over a known row of trees extended the flaps to l position and opened the spoilers at about 52 knots indicated. Noticing some undulations in the field I slowed to the yellow diamond about 48 knots. I touched down and applied the brakes and rolled several seconds. The left wing intercepted one of those undulations and the right wing came up as I rotated about that fixed point. I hit in a nose low attitude shattering the canopy and doing damage to the cabin area and broke the tail boom. The cabin has many fractures. The tail boom broke and came forward and struck the left flap doing damage to the flap and the elevator. After stopping I pulled the canopy release, unbuckled my four point- seatbelt and got out.
The sailplane was put into its trailer and removed from the field after being told it was ok to do so by both the NTSB and the FAA.
