From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On September 7, 2026, at approximately 02:39 am local time, aircraft privacy data omitted, an amateur built, thrp T211 sp e, lost engine power and crashed in Benson Arizona.

The owner/pilot of the aircraft was the only occupant at the time of the crash. The pilot suffered serious injury and was transported to a tucson hospital for treatment.

During an interview with the pilot, he stated that he had concerns about the fuel level being enough to reach the intended destination of lordsburg new Mexico. The pilot made the decision to divert to wilcox AZ., but after landing safely he found that there was no fuel available after hours. Calculating the remaining fuel on board, the pilot determined he could make it to Benson AZ. As the pilot was preparing to descend into Benson airport, he lost engine power and was forced to locate a suitable place to land. The pilot stated that this particular aircraft does not glide well with no engine power.

After inspecting the wreckage, it was determined that the engine lost power due to fuel starvation.
