From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 9/20/2026, privacy data omitted proceeded to fly from kmvn (mount vernon, IL) to 14G (fremont, OH). Due to deteriorating weather, pilot proceeded to divert to kaoh (Allen County Airport. Lima, OH), avoiding clouds while attempting to find the airport with his charts. Once established on downwind and base, pilot privacy data omitted, proceeded to put the gear down on the downwind leg, but could not lock the gear into place with the secondary lever that secured the gear lever in the up or down position. Though the secondary lever could not be secured, the pilot eventually saw three green lights confirming the landing gear in the extended position. Pilot proceeded to extend flaps for landing and made a smooth touchdown as a precaution. Gear collapsed after landing.
