Probable cause
The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during landing. Contributing factors were the pilot's improper compensation for the gusty wind conditions, and her improper bounced landing recovery.
Sequence of events
NTSB’s coding before 2008: each occurrence and phase of flight, and the causes and factors under it. The codes are defined in NTSB’s coding manual.
Analysis
The aircraft bounced upon landing, veered off the runway and collided with a tree. The winds were reportedly gusty at the time of the accident.
