Probable cause
The pilot's failure to maintain sufficient airspeed resulting in an inadvertent stall. A factor in the accident was the strong crosswind conditions.
Sequence of events
NTSB’s coding before 2008: each occurrence and phase of flight, and the causes and factors under it. The codes are defined in NTSB’s coding manual.
Analysis
After attempting a cross wind landing, the pilot decided to make a go-around the aircraft stalled, struck terrain, and cartwheeled.
