Probable cause
Failure of the student pilot to flare for landing and his loss of control after a bounced landing.
Sequence of events
NTSB’s coding before 2008: each occurrence and phase of flight, and the causes and factors under it. The codes are defined in NTSB’s coding manual.
Analysis
After departure for the student plt's first unsupervised solo flt, the flt entered the traffic pattern for touch & go landings. While correcting for the crosswind, the student forgot to flare the acft. It began to porpoise which collapsed the nose landing gear. The acft then nosed over.
