Probable cause
The pilot's poor inflight planning and decisions in that he failed to anticipate wake turbulence from the departing helicopter.
Sequence of events
NTSB’s coding before 2008: each occurrence and phase of flight, and the causes and factors under it. The codes are defined in NTSB’s coding manual.
Analysis
The airplane was flaring to land, when it travelled through the vortices of a helicopter that was taking off next to the runway. The airplane landed hard.
