Analysis

The pilot reported that during landing rollout the airplane veered left upon touchdown. Despite the pilot's application of right rudder, the deviation continued and progressed into a ground loop after the tailwheel contacted the runway. The airplane subsequently departed the runway, and the left wing and elevator impacted terrain, resulting in substantial damage to the left wing. The pilot reported no preaccident mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
