AIRCRAFT WAS GROUNDED: DOOR 2L GUST LOCK REPORTED INOPERATIVE BY CATERING PERSONNEL. MAINTENANCE FOUND LOCK RELEASE ROD STAYS IN THE DOWN POSITION, DOES NOT RAISE UP TO ENGAGE HOLD OPEN HOOK. MAINTENANCE CLEANED THE GUST LOCK CONTROL MECHANISM PER AMM 52-10-00.
