AIRCRAFT WAS GROUNDED: LEFT ENG OVERHEAT LIGHT AFTER TAKEOFF AT 4000 FEET. ACCOMPLISHED QRH CHECKLIST AND RETURNED BACK TO JFK. EMERGENCY WAS DECLARED AND AIRCRAT LANDED OVERWEIGHT WITHOUT INCIDENT. MAINTENAMNCE REMOVED AND REPLACED NR 1 ENGINE, REMOVED AND REPLACED NR 1 ENGINE PRSOV IAW MM 26-11-02.
