FLIGHT 3156 - EWR - CREW REPORTED BANGING NOISE COMING FROM NOSE LANDING GEAR AREA DURING TAXIING. CREW RETURNED TO GATE. EWR MX REMOVED AND REPLACED UPLOCK BOX PROXIMITY SWITCH AND PERFORMED OPERATIONAL CHECK SUCCESSFULLY. AIRCRAFT WAS APPROVED TO RETURN TO SERVICE.
