Description of Type Design Change: Installation of 8.50-6 and 8.50-10 tires, in accordance with F. Atlee Dodge Aircraft Services, LLC, “Installation of 8.50-6 and 8.50-10 Tires”, Document Number 1002-ICA, Revision Original, dated July 9, 2008, and Document Number 1002-PL1, dated July 21, 2008, or later FAA approved revision on Piper airplanes equipped with heavy duty brakes and heavy duty PA-18 style landing gear.
1. The airplane must be equipped with a previously FAA approved installation of a heavy duty PA-18 style landing gear with 1½-inch axles.
2. Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) SA02231AK, for the “Installation of Cleveland Main Wheels and Brakes” is a required part of this modification.
3. Compatibility of this design change with previously approved modifications must be determined by the installer.
4. If the holder agrees to permit another person to use this certificate to alter the product, the holder shall give the other person written evidence of that permission.
5. For Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) refer to F. Atlee Dodge Aircraft Services, LLC. document number 1002-ICA.
