From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Lost electrical power IFR departing dpa. Tried return. Deplated battery. Diverted rfd. Gear folded. Alt belt broke. (-23) after departing from Rockford aerodrome the pilot, ron gabbei, observed the alternator warning light illuminate. The pilot requested an ILS into the dupage airport. The plot then lowered the landing gear, electrically, causing the battery to lose all voltage. The ILS failed due to total loss of communication and navigation systems. Mr. Gabbei returned to Rockford and received the green light to land on runway 7. On landing the left gear collapsed causing substantial damage to the aircraft.
