From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: the pilot stated: I flew dual .7 hours with my instructor. We did ground reference maneuvers and three takeoff and landings. The first landing was fine and my instructor said to try another landing. On the second solo landing I touched down on the pavement, the wind caught the airplane and it drifted toward the right. I pushed the left rudder to straighten the nose but the aircraft landed to the right of the runway. It was a hard landing. The nose gear sheared off and the aircraft came to rest along the runway. There were just minor injuries. privacy data omitted Submission of this report closes this incident.
