From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: northwest flt 1741. On 10/09/95 was climbing out of detroit (dtw) going to nashville (bna). As the auto pilot was approaching the clearance altitude "290" the aircraft made an uncommanded pitch up so the captain disconnected and proceeded to level off at FL 290 by hand. The crew captain/first officer both had the American poker insight. The auto pilot was written up in nashville. The n-tap shows the aircraft at 29.1 then 28.8; 29.1; 29.5; 29.4; then 29.3 this would be commensurate with hand flying to level off at that altitude, the pilot would oscillate to avoid inducing high "g" factors. Incident closed by submission of this report).
