What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Narrative: on 11-04-95, on a VFR flight from decatur, IL to springfield, IL the nose gear failed to extend during the approach to capital airport, springfield, IL. After several attempts to lower the nose gear, the pilot elected to land at Jacksonville, IL gear up. A gear-up landing was accomplished. The pilot was not injured, and there were no passengers. This incident is closed. The nose gear doors mechanism is part of STC SA3512SW. If the nose gear strut does not extend prior to gear retraction, the strut does not properly engage the door closing mechanism and jams the doors in the closed position. Normal cycling of the gear will not allow the nose gear to extend, due to air pressure on the doors. A service bulletin by the STC holder corrects this problem and is being installed on the aircraft.
