From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Dropped out of crosswind landing approach. Impacted a few feet short of runway. Hit rut separated gear. Too slow. (-23) while trying to land on very end of runway pilot brought the aircraft down too soon and hit a hump at about four feet short of runway. The left main landing gear strut/wheel assembly broke on impact and separated from aircraft. Aircraft veered to the left and neither the pilot nor the occupant sustained injuries. Visual inspection of aircraft indicates major damage to left wing structure, some damage to horizontal stabilizer and possible damage to center fuselage structure.
