From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: after take-off from Fayetteville (fay), crew departed to the southeast practice area for pilot training. After leveling at 2500 feet, pilot noticed a prop surge and loss of power. Crew quickly realized they were not going to make the nearest airport and decided on a field in which to land. Pilot landed in a freshly plowed field and on roll-out, a small ditch caused nose gear to collapse. There was nose gear and prop damage but there were no injuries to the two crew members on board. The cause was determined to be loss of engine oil due to incorrect oil quick drain installed during oil change that same day. privacy data omitted
