From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Narrative: during flight from Conway county airport (cyw) to fayetteville municipal airport (fay) pilot experienced rough running engine. Pilot stated that approximately 25-35 minutes into flight he noticed an abnormal engine sound. This lasted for 30 to 60 seconds, then the engine began to run very rough. He immediately reduced power to try to minimize damage to the engine. He located a field and landed. Thomas funk (chief pilot) and Mr. Mullis (aircraft mechanic) were first on the scene from metro air center (aircraft owner). Mr. Mullis reported that all but one bolt holding the right rear cylinder on to the engine had sheared off from the engine case.
