From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Unable land airport. Vector obtained for approach. Lost power on approach due fuel exhaustion. Landed short. (-23) aircraft was operated on a composite flight plan, ifr/vfr, and intended to land at bmt airport. Due to existing weather conditions and bmt VOR being out of service, the pilot requested radar vector and an instrument approach to bpt airport after attempting to locate bmt airport in VFR condition. The aircraft engine lost power due to fuel exhaustion while on final approach. Airplane landed short of the runway.
